Claire Gibbs, mum of two girls and a local primary school teacher in Luton, is married to Will – the Vicar of St Mary’s Church. She has always been a keen swimmer and dreamed of swimming the Channel. Now she has her chance. Without the uncertainties of tides and the dangers of shipping she will swim the equivalent distance in her local pool where she swims and trains daily.
On Monday 31 Oct (10 am to 10 pm) and Tuesday 1 Nov (6.15 am to 6.15 pm) at Sportspace, Hemel Hempstead, Claire will attempt to swim the distance of the English Channel – 21 miles or 33.8 kms or 1352 lengths of the pool.
Teddy Tots is a new group for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, (and their grown-ups), on Friday mornings in the Transept at St Mary’s Church, Redbourn. 10.30am – 12.00pm. Don’t forget your teddy!
Sessions will run as follows:
Toys & play, coffee & cake
Craft activity
Songs & storytime
Teddy Tots is free of charge. Hope to see you there!
A team of volunteers from St Mary’s spent a scorching day at Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled stables on Thursday, as a ‘Volunteering Day’ in support of our Charity of the Year.
Tasks including cleaning and disinfecting stables, repainting a shed, scrubbing, clearing, quite literally ‘scraping a barrel’ which prepares new riders for sitting on a saddle, and painting horseshoes used in sensory sessions.
A Gaddesden RDA Trustee wrote “What an amazing team of volunteers – it was a great demonstration of teamwork and I’m staggered that everything on the list was ticked off. Gaddesden RDA really appreciate all the work that was done today and feel very fortunate to have your ongoing support”.
For future opportunities to support Gaddesden Place RDA as our Charity of the Year, why not:
