Mothers Union

mu-pageMothers’ Union is an international Christian charity that seeks to support families worldwide. In 83 countries, our members share a vision of a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful, and flourishing relationships.

It was founded by Mary Elizabeth Sumner in 1876, on the birth of her first child for the support of women in their role of mothers. Mary recognised that good parenting was more than providing for the physical needs of the child, and she believed that the primary responsibility was to raise children in the love of God.

Our mission is to demonstrate the Christian faith in action by the transformation of communities worldwide through the nurture of the family in its many forms.

Our objectives are:

  • To promote and support married life
  • To encourage parents in their role in developing the faith of their children
  • To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in Prayer, worship and service
  • To promote conditions in society favourable to stable Family life and the protection of children
  • To help those whose family life has met with adversity

Membership is open to anyone who has been baptised and who will support our aims and objectives. You do not have to be a mother or female but you have to believe in the importance of strengthening family life within society.

Redbourn Mothers’ Union meets in St. Mary’s Church Transept on the first Tuesday of every month, except August, from 10 am. to 12 noon . There is a short communion service in the church followed by refreshments and a talk. If you would like to attend a meeting we would be very pleased to meet you.

For 2016 – here is our programme of events.
