St Mary’s Patronal Festival: Sunday 14th September, 11.00am

All are invited to join us on Sunday 14th September, for our annual Patronal Festival, when we celebrate the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary who our church is dedicated to, and the founding of St Mary’s over 900 years ago.

There will be a single, combined service at 11.00am, followed by a Sausage Sizzle, bring and share salad and pudding and lots of games.
We are delighted that our guest preacher will be The Dean of St Albans Cathedral, The Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore.

All are welcome, please do join us!

It will help with catering if you can sign up on the lists on the trolley by the main door.

We hope to see you there!

“We Believe” – October course

Ever been to church and wondered why we say certain things? Perhaps the Nicene Creed is one of those!

This year the Nicene Creed, which we say each Sunday at our 10am service, is 1700 years old. It helps us articulate our faith and our understanding of God.

Join us on Tuesday evenings from October 7th at 7.45pm, as we think about what we say, what it means and through this discover more about God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is your invitation. All are welcome.

(It would help to know you are coming so we can plan refreshments and if you want a booklet let us know. They are ÂŁ3.50 each. Email vicar@stmarysredbourn.org

The Nicene Creed is a summary of core Christian beliefs regularly used in worship:

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is,
seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
