The Gospellers have smashed their fundraising target and ‘twinned’ 8 toilets at St Mary’s, helping those in desperate poverty to have access to a proper latrine, clean water and the information they need to be healthy. Read more about Toilet Twinning on the charity’s website.
Using the Parable of the Talents as inspiration, the teenagers were each given £10 to take away and turn into profit in order to twin as many toilets as possible.
They have made the following video to explain how and why they raised the money:
Any further donations towards their fundraising efforts would be most welcome – thank you!
This year St Mary’s charity is Dementia UK and, in addition to raising money, we also want to provide practical support for those living with dementia.
Please consider joining our team of volunteerswho will be visiting St Matthew’s Care Home to chat with residents suffering from dementia. Just an hour or two of your time each week would enrich the lives of these residents, many of whom have no regular contact with friends or family.
Because we’ll work as a team there will be cover for weeks when you aren’t able to visit the Home. Advice and mentoring will be provided by the Care Home and you’ll be able to share ideas with other team members. You are even encouraged to bring your dog or a child – guaranteed to delight the residents!
If you think you might be able to help, please contact Stephen Boffey for further information, without any obligation.
Many thanks to all who supported Sunday’s Cake Sale organised by the Mothers’ Union in support of the people of Chamnye in Tanzania with whom we have a special link.
This short video gives an insight into how the money raised by the Mothers’ Union in recent years has been used. Do turn up the volume on your computer to hear the wonderful music!
