St Mary’s welcomes the Prayers for Love and Faith and joins the Inclusive Church network

St Mary’s Church, Redbourn is overjoyed to welcome the Prayers of Love and Faith for same-sex couples and to become a part of the Inclusive Church Network. This means that we are committed to creating a space and community which welcomes everyone and seeks equality for all.

This is the Inclusive Church statement which our PCC unanimously voted to be a part of:

“We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.

We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.

We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”

This is a journey, and you may think we have some way to go in demonstrating our inclusivity, so if you have ideas or would like to help us in this, please get in touch.

The PCC also unanimously endorsed the use of the newly commended Prayers for Love and Faith and warmly welcomes same sex-couples to come and celebrate their relationships with prayers for God’s blessing. If you’d like to find out more, please contact Reverend Rachel by email.

Booking Now Open: St Mary’s Holiday Club 2024

We are delighted that our fun-packed Holiday Club will be running this year from Monday 5th – Friday 9th August – please do join us!

Holiday Club is open to primary school age children from those currently in Reception to year 6. It is a fun-packed activity week led by our new Vicar, Revd Rachel and a wonderful team of adult and teenage volunteers.

Our theme for this year is ‘Deep Sea Divers‘, so get your snorkels ready and we’ll have a whale of a time!

Each day, children will rotate in their groups between sports and outdoor games, the craft tent, thinking sessions and some fun one-off activities.

Holiday Club runs from Monday 5th – Friday 9th August 2024, 9.30am – 1.00pm each day. Children will need a packed lunch each day, sensible footwear and clothes suitable for the weather.

The cost is £60 per child, with a sibling discount for more than one child of £50. If you would prefer to pay in instalments, or your child would like to attend but the cost will be prohibitive please email to let us know – your request will be treated confidentially.

We have 48 spaces and in previous years it has always sold out quickly with a waiting list, so do book early if your child would like to come along to avoid disappointment.

If you have any queries about Holiday Club please contact Ailsa Hulme, or if you have any problems with the online forms or payment please contact Kate Ford .

We hope you can join us for a fun-filled week!
