Join us at St Mary’s Church for a fascinating evening with Gerald Corbett, as he talks to Bishop Robin Smith about an extraordinary career spanning business, public life, charity and sport.

Earlier this year, Gerald published his autobiography, When Something Happens, which tells the story of his life and wide-ranging career. He has served as a leading finance director, chairman of major international companies, CEO of Railtrack and, more recently, Chairman of the MCC. Alongside these high-profile roles, Gerald has also found time to make a significant contribution to national charities and to the St Albans and Hertfordshire communities.

His book offers a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of some of Britain’s best-known institutions, exploring the worlds of high finance and business, as well as the challenges of leadership, working with politicians, effective and empathetic management, collaboration and the importance of being passionate about what you do.

On Wednesday 23 September at 6pm, Gerald will be in conversation with Bishop Robin Smith at St Mary’s Church, reflecting on the experiences, people and events that have shaped his life and career.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to continue the conversation informally over a complimentary glass of wine. There will also be an opportunity to meet Gerald and buy a signed copy of When Something Happens.

Gerald has very generously offered to donate all proceeds from the event to St Mary’s Charity of the Year, St Luke’s School Farm.
